Individual Therapy
Overview
Individual therapy helps children who are struggling emotionally, behaviorally, and socially. It is recommended for children with autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, anxiety, grief, depression, impulse control problems, disruptive behavior, and more. Individual therapy is also appropriate for children who may need extra attention that cannot be provided in a group setting. Children should be at least 36 months of age to attend therapy.
How Does it Help?
Improves communication
Fosters self-understanding
Practice new skills
Expressing self through art activities
Sports or sensory activities that help children build confidence and integrate their mind and body
Helps improve impulse control, deal with losing, and following rules
How often are sessions held?
Sessions are held at least once per week and consist of the therapist and the child. Sessions last between 45-60 minutes.
How long does therapy take?
Therapy is NOT a quick fix. Some children progress quickly while other children require ongoing therapy. There is not a timeline or specific amount of sessions prescribed- we follow the lead of the child.
